Restore the power grid | Eskom’s EAF numbers no better than 2023

JOHANNESBURG – South Africans have been grappling with ongoing power cuts for years.
2023 went down as the worst year of outages ever.
President Cyril Ramaphosa says the worst is behind us.

But Eskom’s energy availability factor data paints a very different picture.
It shows this year started off on the same foot as 2023.
“It’s the first six weeks or so into 2024 and we’re no better off than the very low numbers of below 55 percent energy availability factor,” said OUTA CEO Wayne Duvenage.
“It isn’t getting better. There’s a lot more to do.”
